After a successful spell with Airdrie, where he was to score against Rangers in the 1992 Scottish Cup Final, Andy Smith signed for Dunfermline in the close season of 1995. He was injured in a pre-season friendly, and missed much of the first half of the season. However he was to return to score 10 goals from 19 starts, in the push to win the First Division Championship that year.

Since then Andy has been virtually ever-present in the side. in 1997/98 he was to be one of the top scorers in the Premier League, with 26 goals, earning a Scotland 'B' cap in the process. Last season Andy was made club captain, but had a leaner time in front of goal, as Dunfermline were relegated.
